SVMI presented at Eurocities Social Forum in Stuttgart

Essential findings on how to empower, motivate and train senior volunteer to support migrant integration in cities throughout Europe were presented during the Eurocities Social Forum, held October 23-24, 2018 in Stuttgart. In workshops, over 120 participants from European cities discussed policy-making process on sustainable social integration and urban development.

Eurocities is the network of major European cities and represents more than 140 of Europe’s largest cities and over 45 partner cities, that in total are home of 130 million citizens in 39 European countries.

The aim of the Eurocities Social Affairs Forum was to enable city authorities to discuss and exchange views on how to make their cities socially sustainable for the future. Integration of migrants, inter-generational dialogue and civil society empowerment are key elements of social life in urban centers.  Participants reflected on the role of cities as active agents to link the European Pillar of Social Rights, the SDGs and the Urban Agenda for the EU in a way that delivers tangible results for people in urban areas.

SVMI project was presented in working groups and during field visits of participants in the Stuttgart metropolitan area. ifa Akademie as German project partner could present SVMI training modules and discuss aspects of active social participation of migrants and seniors in European cities.
